Services of the Pilot-Scale Shops for processing of Plastics

Besides working on R&D projects, our laboratories provide testing and technological services. The Plastic Sheets Division offers the following services:

Thermoplastics-Technology
  • Extrusion tests, extrusion coating, experimental compounding (various single- and twin-screw extruders, screw diameter ranging from 10 to 50 mm, constructional length up to 40 d)
  • measurements on gouged stripmill, heat sealing experiments with HF-, thermal contact and thermal impulse sealing devices, test of deep-drawing

  • DSC-, TGA- measurements
  • MFI- measurements
  • rheological investigations (high-pressure capillary rheometer, slot-capillary rheometer with preceding extruder, kneader)
  • measuring of surface energy (static and dynamic)
  • determination of the burning behaviour of plastics (LOI, in accordance with ISO 4589-2)

Surface-Technology
  • thinnest-layer coating of plastic material surfaces by plasma polymerization (e.g. SiOx)
  • or sputtering (e.g. Ag, Al, Ti, Bi-Mn, ITO)

Accompaying Measurements
  • measuring of heat conductivity (to ISO 2581 and DIN 52616)
  • measuring of electric conductivity (in accordance with ISO 3915 and DIN IEC 93)
  • determination of particle size (laser bending, screen analysis)
  • measuring of surface roughness (profilometer with mechanical scanning)
  • measuring of transparency (haze, clarity, transparency)
  • measuring with the infrared camera (8 – 12 µm)
  • determination of adhesion (peel tester)
