FILK Support Association

Profile

The „Verein zur Förderung des Forschungsinstitutes für Leder und Kunststoffbahnen (FILK) Freiberg/Sachsen e. V.” support association, which was founded in 1992, is a 100 % partner of FILK gGmbH.
In the support association, an active co-operation between companies from different branches was organized successfully.

is chairman of the association.

The high interest of mostly small and medium enterprises was an important precondition for the admission of the association as member of „Arbeitsgemeinschaft industrieller Gemeinschaftsforschungen” („Working Group of Industrial Joint Research Work”). So it became possible to develop innovative projects by common efforts together with the Institute and other research institutions, as joint industrial research.

Foundation:

The non-profit association was founded in Freiberg on May 06, 1992.

Members:

Well-known companies of the plasticsindustry, leather manufacturing and processing industries as well as mechanical engineering and public institutions / organizations / associations and natural persons.

Statutory purpose:

Support of industrial and fundamental research in the fields of plastics processing, especially to plastic webs, biopolymers / leather, environmental protection (utilization of waste products and regeneration of valuable matters), including a transfer of the results obtained to the industrial sphere.

Main functions:

The support association

• is sole partner of FILK gGmbH and meets its statutory purpose by especially supporting the research institute
• being member of „Arbeitsgemeinschaft industrieller Forschungseinrichtungen” (Working Group of IndustrialResearch Institutions) – AIF- organizes common industrial research on product and process developmentfor sheetings, plastic webs, and material compounds on the base of natural and synthetic polymers. As member of AIF, it can directly apply for funds to be granted from the budget of the Federal ministry of economics (BMWI) to support joint industrial research for small and medium enterprises,
• is a forum for communication and know-how transfer.
