In her presentation, "Unexpected Variability in Collagen Modifications and α-Chain Stoichiometry Revealed by Mass Spectrometry" our colleague Dr. Birgit Voigt discusses new mass spectrometry-based methods for quantifying various collagen types and analyzing their proline hydroxylation. The results reveal unexpectedly significant differences in collagen structural and modification patterns, providing important insights for the development of collagen-based biomaterials.
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE:
The annual conference of the German Society for Biomaterials will take place from Wednesday, September 24, to Saturday, September 26, 2026, at RWTH Aachen University Hospital. Additionally, a workshop on the topic of bioprinting (biofabrication) is being organized in collaboration with the YFS for the day before the congress—Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
The organizers look forward to four plenary lectures delivered by renowned colleagues on exciting topics. This year, we are focusing on the following scientific areas: bioprinting, extracellular matrix substitutes, magnetic, acoustic, and electrical methods in tissue engineering, spheroids and organoids, in vitro models, surface functionalization and coatings, ceramics and bioactive glasses, advanced polymeric biomaterials, and drug delivery.
