FILK at the Bayern Innovativ Forum - New concepts for the mobile interior of the future

On 30 March 2023, Dr Kristin Trommer, Dr Martin Heise and Prof. Dr Haiko Schulz represented FILK in the exhibition area at the Bayern Innovativ cooperation forum "Interior in the Automobile 2023" at the AUDI Sports Park in Ingolstadt.

With a programme of lectures and exhibitions, the forum aims to work out the requirements for the automotive interior of the future and to develop suggestions and ideas as to which sustainable and smart materials and surfaces will score points in the future. materials and surfaces will score points in the future. And as a snap poll among the participants confirms, these are the most important topics in development and design.

The research priorities at the FILK Freiberg Institute gGmbH, which were presented on site, also fit in with this:

  • Smart Materials. They are based on thin, very flexible conductive polymer layers that can heat, cool, feel, light up or even control, depending on the functionalisation. These layers can be processed with textiles to form flexible composite materials, which makes them ideal for applications in automotive interiors.

  • Sustainable PU artificial leather made from biological raw materials is another focus of the exhibition. Residual materials from the agricultural and food industries, such as oils, sugar or starch, are suitable for the production of biopolymers. Our colleagues are working on developing PU synthetic leathers with the highest possible biobased content that nevertheless meet the requirements of modern materials. After all, they achieve a biobased content of up to 85 %.

And with our accredited test laboratory, we have been a certified service provider for the automotive industry for many decades. A special added value for our customers lies in the integration into the research environment of our institute. Based on our comprehensive knowledge of materials research, we can identify material-specific correlations and understand characteristic structure-property relationships. Interdisciplinary expertise, many years of experience and the latest scientific findings thus flow into the consultation and processing of test orders from our customers at home and abroad.

Many thanks to Bayern Innovativ GmbH for this great event format and the organisation!
