Special analysis and method development for testing leather

In addition to standardised tests new, not standardised investigation methods are developed, e. g. determination of the tanning technology, behaviour of leather under climate change with recording of force and length measurement values of the test pieces, permeability for water vapour in varying climate, water vapour adsorption curves of differently tanned leathers or determination of aw-values in correlation to the risk of mould infestation.

THE FOLLOWING TESTS ARE OFFERED IN OUR LEATHER LABORATORY:

  • Shrinkage temperature and enthalpy

  • Water vapour permeability/adsorption

  • Force and length measurement under climate change conditions

  • Determination of isoelectric point (Zeta potential)

For determination of content of tanning agents in vegetable tanning substances we offer Freiberg Hide Powder as a standard reagent.

Since 2017 FILK is also a member of the OEKO-TEX® community and certifying body according to the Leather Standard by OEKO-TEX®.

For testing of leather and leather products according to standards please refer to the "Test" pages of our accredited test lab. For information on testing services please use the links below:
