Our test laboratory performs accredited testing according to DIN EN ISO 18219-2 for the determination of medium-chain chlorinated paraffins (MCCP) in leather. The standard describes a chromatographic method for determining MCCP with carbon chain lengths from C14 to C17 in finished and unfinished leather.
Test Procedure
For the tests, the leather sample material is prepared and extracted using suitable procedures. The medium-chain chlorinated paraffins are subsequently determined analytically by chromatographic separation and quantitative evaluation. The standardized procedure enables reproducible detection and assessment of MCCP contents in leather samples.
The test is applied to leather, shoe upper leather, garment leather, bags, belts, upholstery leather, leather accessories, and technical leather products. Medium-chain chlorinated paraffins may enter material systems through plastics, coatings, adhesives, paints, or processing auxiliaries and are relevant within restricted substance lists (RSLs) as well as chemical requirements of various brands and industrial sectors.
We also analyse materials for short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCP) according to DIN EN ISO 18219-1.
