NEW PATHS FOR SMART MATERIALS - CONDUCTIVE POLYMER LAYERS
They are light, elastic and efficient: conductive layers can take on additional functions in technical textiles, e.g. heating, cooling, measuring, conducting data or even lighting. The idea was to process these conductive layers, which do not require any metallic components, into technical textiles. Depending on the application, the performance of the layers can be adjusted via the proportion of conductive components in the coating medium. The special feature of the films is their high elasticity, which makes them very flexible and easy to process.
A first application is already presentable. Together with the development company INTEC Industrie-Technik from Munich, which operates throughout Germany in the automotive, aeronautical and marine systems sectors, these research results are now being transferred into an application. Laminated with a textile, the conductive layers will be functionalised into a new surface heating system for vehicle seats. Find out more from our experts at the stand in Hall 11.0, Stand B35.
And what else?
As a specialist in flexible polymer materials, we have launched many new projects. Some are investigating the use of bio-based coating media, e.g. based on PLA or PBS. Bio-based flame retardants also continue to be a research topic. Membranes and functional coatings for new propulsion technologies such as fuel cells are also included. Testing Driven by Science
Our accredited testing laboratory will again be on site with staff. The range of services in the field of materials testing has been continuously expanded and now includes more than 1,000 tests, over 200 of which are accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. These in turn can be found in countless specifications from a wide range of industries. In addition, there are numerous special test procedures, damage and defect analysis as well as tests according to legal regulations. That is why testing competence begins with the selection of the right test procedures. With our comprehensive knowledge of materials and technology research, we give you the good feeling of being well advised.
