Dr Ina Prade, Head of the Biology Research Department at FILK, will explain the current state of research on the preparation and processing of collagen for use in medical devices and biomaterials in her presentation "Collagen re-shaped - the application potential of advanced technologies for a time-tested biomaterial".
About the Forum:
The next generation of biomaterials will be closer to the living tissue – with biomimetic microstructures, multimaterial- or biohybrid designs as scaffolds for cell growth. For their manufacturing, novel techniques are implemented, like advanced 3D-printing and electrospinning. Heart valve scaffolds, meniscus implants, complex implants for osteochondral lesions, defects in the mouth/jaw/facial or dental region, tympanic implants and many more are realized in this way. In this symposium, innovative concepts, ideas and projects are presented to bring the participants up-to-date about the latest developments in the field.
