In just a few days, it's that time again: Established medium-sized companies, up-and-coming startups, research institutions, and their industrial partners will be presenting their pioneering products, processes, and services at the open-air event, which were made possible with the support of the BMWK's open-topic innovation funding program.
Our institute is represented with two projects this year:
From the BMWE's "Industrial Joint Research (IGF)" program, our colleague @Martin Heise will be presenting his project "POLYMER-LED COMPOSITES WITH ACTIVE SENSOR-BASED CONTROL USING THE EXAMPLE OF BILIRUBIN THERAPY IN INFANTS." The innovation lies in very thin, flexible, conductive layers that can be laminated into textiles. The composites can then be processed into clothing. This allows, for example, bilirubin therapy for infant jaundice to be carried out at home, regardless of time and location. However, many other applications for these layers are also conceivable.
Within the "Central Innovation Program for SMEs (ZIM)" of the BMWE, our colleague @Maren Lehman, together with her industrial partners, Vowalon Beschichtung GmbH and Trans-Textil GmbH, will present the project "PERMANENT FUNCTIONALIZATION OF PU MEMBRANES WITH ANTIMICROBIAL PROPERTIES FOR USE IN TEXTILE AMINATES." The project implemented an innovative idea: a breathable PU membrane with antimicrobial properties through the use of metal nanoparticles (MNPs). The technological challenge lay in incorporating the MNPs into the PU membrane and using antimicrobial PU hot-melt adhesives. The specific membrane properties, such as water vapor permeability, water resistance, and washability, must be maintained. The membranes will be processed into protective equipment for medical and nursing staff and people exposed to biological hazards.
Visit us in Tent D at booths 111 and 112! Our colleagues, Michael Meyer, Maren Lehmann, and Martin Heise, as well as our ZIM industrial partners, Vowalon Beschichtung GmbH and Trans-Textil GmbH, will be there for you. We look forward to seeing you!
