Biomaterials Advisory Board reorganized

Representatives from industry are actively involved in the BMWK's Industrial Joint Research (IGF)

A few weeks ago, experts from industry and research who are dedicated to the topic of biomaterials met at our institute. Biomaterials are generally synthetic or non-living natural materials that are used in medicine for therapeutic or diagnostic purposes and come into direct contact with biological tissue in the human body.

Our advisory boards are important committees of our support association. They are made up exclusively of representatives from industry, especially SMEs. They accompany, coordinate and organize our research activities on a voluntary basis. In this way, we ensure that our research work is closely related to the research needs of our industry. The members of the advisory boards also participate in project-accompanying committees of the BMWK's Industrial Joint Research (IGF).

Our newly formed Biomaterials Advisory Board brings together experts and specialists from the medical technology sector who are involved in the production, modification and application of such biomaterials. The advisory board will be headed by Katja Richter (Heppe Medical Chitosan GmbH, Halle) and Dr. Gerhard Maier (Polymaterials AG, Kaufbeuren). Under their direction, the advisory board will initiate the development of project outlines, prioritize future projects and commission research centers to prepare research proposals. In addition, the members regularly inform themselves about the progress of ongoing research projects from a wide range of funding programs and their results.

And that is exactly what the meeting continued with after the election of the two new chairmen. There was lively discussion, ideas were exchanged and scientific results presented. We would like to thank all participants, especially Dr. Martin Wieland (Federal Medical Service), Heike Rodriguez (Gelita AG), Tonguc Sahin (VACUCAST Feinguss GmbH & Co. Metall KG), Dr. Jens Pissarek (biotrics bioimplants AG), Axel Kob (MBP GmbH) and of course the two new chairmen for their commitment to our support association.
