CHANGE OF LEADERSHIP AT FILK: PROF. DR. MICHAEL STOLL HANDS OVER THE INSTITUTE MANAGEMENT AFTER 26 YEARS
After more than 40 years with the company, 26 of them at its helm, Institute Director Professor Michael Stoll handed over the reins of the Freiberg Institute to his successors, Professor Haiko Schulz and Dr Michael Meyer, at an honorary colloquium. Long-time companions and numerous representatives from business, science, politics and public administration came to the Mittelsächsisches Theater in Freiberg in November 2019 to honor Michael Stoll's achievements and to take a look into the future with his two successors.
Under Stoll's leadership, the institute has developed into a reliable and integral part of the German and European research landscape after the difficult years of the post-reunification period. A scientific reorientation, but also an expansion of the economic basis were necessary for this. In his closing speech, Michael Stoll thanked all partners, customers and supporters of the institute and the numerous companions and friends who have accompanied him and his work.
Haiko Schulz and Michael Meyer, who both came to the Freiberg institute in the mid-1990s and have long been involved in the management as managing director and research director, respectively, took over the institute's management on an equal footing on January 1, 2020. While Haiko Schulz will take care of the institute's economic affairs and the service sector, Michael Meyer has taken over the research sector. With this step, the institute relies on continuity in the management and development of the company.
