EXTREMELY FLAME RETARDANT, FLEXIBLE AND LIGHTWEIGHT - FILK PRESENTS ITSELF AT TECHTEXTIL 2019 IN FRANKFURT

The new lightweight material, which meets the requirements of building material class A2, can be used wherever there are very high requirements in terms of fire protection, especially for partition walls that also serve as fire walls. These are often found in airports, in ship and container construction, in rail vehicle construction, in hall structures and in commercial or public buildings. Until now, only rigid composite panels achieved these fire protection properties. The new composite material is characterized by:

  • Non-combustibility according to building material class A2 DIN 13501

  • Flexible sheet material in roll-to-roll process

  • Easy and flexible to cut to size

  • Closed surface

These properties are made possible by the material combination of an inorganic, textile carrier based on basalt fibers and an inorganic silicone-based polymer layer. The material was developed in a ZIM cooperation project, funded by the BMWi, between FILK and Fulcoline KG from Hofbieber near Fulda. Together, the two companies will present the material to the trade public at techtextil 2019 in Frankfurt, Hall 3.1, Booth E46.
