Bio-based and recyclable - Sustainable composite materials
And we were there again on June 13, 2024, when around 300 exhibitors and 2,000 visitors came together in Berlin for the BMWK's SME Innovation Day, a one-day, multi-technological open-air trade fair on the outdoor grounds of AiF-Projekt GmbH.
Our colleagues, Dr Kristin Trommer, Dr Andrea Winkler and Prof Dr Michael Meyer, showed a sustainable one-component synthetic leather based on PBS. This is
bio-based
recyclable and
environmentally friendly degradable.
This reduces plastic waste and protects the environment. The recyclable material was created in a project by @Industrial Joint Research (IGF). In numerous other projects, our scientists combine environmentally friendly materials and innovative processes to create a more sustainable future.
The innovation community meets every year in Berlin
Every year, Innovation Day is a meeting place for research, science and industry from all over Germany, who present new products, processes and services whose development has been supported by federal funding. Federal Minister of Economics, Robert Habeck, also emphasized the importance of small and medium-sized enterprises as the innovation engine of the German economy, which his ministry particularly supports in the economic and social transformation.
A comprehensive range of information and advice on various funding programs from various federal ministries is also available on site and you can get to know their project sponsors, e.g. DLR Project Sponsor, EuroNorm or AiF-Projekt GmbH.
Our colleagues had a lot of fun being there again. We would like to thank all of the colleagues who visited our stand, especially the representatives from the BMWK, Dr Verena Mertens and Christian Friedrich, Martin Wegner from the DLR Project Management Agency, representatives from AiF-Projekt GmbH, EuroNorm and the many representatives from our partner institutes from the Zuse Association and the Saxon Industrial Research Association (SIG).
