OPEN MONUMENT DAY ON SEPTEMBER 9, 2018

The "Open Monument Day" is a nationwide event organized by the local monument protection authorities, which enables residents of a region to explore and visit monuments that are actually not open to the public, e.g. private listed residential and office buildings or industrial plants. In the past years, FILK has repeatedly participated in this program, since all of the institute's buildings are protected as individual monuments.

This year, the motto is "Discover what connects us", which the institute is taking as an opportunity to once again open its doors to the public. Almost everyone comes into contact with leather as a material every day, whether as a car seat, belt, jacket, handbag or purse. And also the other materials such as coated textiles, which are examined or researched at FILK, accompany us every day.

In the lecture hall, visitors will be given a historical outline of the institute and building history, as well as a selection of materials that the scientists are working with. Afterwards, visitors can take part in a guided tour of the institute's laboratories and pilot plants.
