On January 20, 2016, the first two of the five participants of the first year successfully completed the new additional qualification Tanning and Leather Technology at FILK in Freiberg, which was carried out with great commitment from industry. They passed the last of the three parts of the examination, the presentation of their project work and a technical discussion, in front of the examination board, which is made up of industry representatives and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce. The two graduates had previously completed their Industriemeister Chemie and can now apply to the Verband der Deutschen Lederindustrie e. V. (German Leather Industry Association) for recognition as leather workers (VDL) for recognition as leather technicians (VA). The next course starts with the first attendance week from February 29 to March 4, 2016. Registration for 2016 is still open.
