Our test laboratory performs heat-resistance testing of steering wheel leather according to AK LV 111 (13). The method assesses the effects of defined thermal exposure on leather and its finish and helps evaluate suitability for elevated temperatures in automotive interiors.
Testing according to AK LV 111 (13)
Leather specimens are subjected to defined heat ageing and subsequently assessed for material changes. Particular attention is paid to surface durability and possible changes in colour, appearance or dimensions.
A related current procedure is VDA 230-221 (4.6) – Heat resistance of steering wheel leather. FILK also offers DIN EN ISO 17228 – Colour change with accelerated ageing for assessing colour changes caused by accelerated ageing.
Further information is available in our overview of VDA tests and specifications and in the test laboratory overview with a search function for standards, specifications and testing services.
