Our test laboratory performs testing in accordance with the Mercedes-Benz standard DBL 5307, paragraph 6.1 using an accredited procedure. This specification defines requirements and test methods for evaluating the fire behavior of materials and components used in vehicle interiors. The objective of the test is to assess flammability and flame propagation characteristics under defined conditions, ensuring compliance with manufacturer-specific fire safety requirements.
The standard applies to a wide range of non-metallic materials and composite systems used in vehicle interiors. These include plastics, textile materials, leather, coated materials, and foams, whose fire behavior may influence overall vehicle safety.
During testing according to DBL 5307-6.1, specimens are conditioned under defined conditions and subsequently subjected to a standardized fire test. The material’s response to a defined ignition source is evaluated, with particular focus on flame spread, continued burning behavior, and potential self-extinguishing properties.
