Textiles and textile products – Burning behaviour - Curtains and drapes – Detailed procedure to determine the flame spread of vertically oriented specimens
Material
Our test laboratory performs testing according to DIN EN 1102 under accredited conditions. This European standard describes a standardized test method for determining the burning behavior of textile fabrics (e.g., curtains and drapes) in a vertically oriented test arrangement. The purpose of the test is to evaluate flame propagation characteristics as well as afterflame and afterglow behavior under defined ignition conditions.
Test principle and procedure
In the DIN EN 1102 test, a standardized specimen is mounted vertically inside a test chamber. The specimen is then exposed at a defined location to a standardized ignition flame for a specified period of time.
The evaluation is carried out according to defined criteria for the classification of the burning behavior of textile materials used in interior applications.
