Our laboratory performs testing in accordance with DIN EN ISO 17226-1 professionally and in an accredited testing environment. This standard describes a chemical test method for determining the formaldehyde content in leather and leather-like materials. The method is based on high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
As part of the test procedure according to DIN EN ISO 17226-1, defined samples are comminuted and extracted with water to transfer the formaldehyde content into solution. The aqueous extract is then separated and detected chromatographically, with the standard specifying a selective method that is insensitive to colored extracts.
In the test report issued by our laboratory, the formaldehyde content is stated in mg/kg.
