Leather - Determination of chlorinated hydrocarbons in leather - Part 1: Chromatographic method for short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs)
Material
Industry
Our test laboratory performs accredited testing according to DIN EN ISO 18219-1 for the determination of short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCP) in leather. The standard describes a chromatographic method for determining SCCP with carbon chain lengths from C10 to C13 in finished and unfinished leather.
Test Procedure
For the tests, the leather sample material is prepared and extracted using suitable procedures. The analysis is subsequently carried out by chromatographic separation and quantitative determination of the target substances. The standardized procedure enables reproducible detection and evaluation of SCCP contents.
The test is applied to leather, shoe upper leather, garment leather, bags, belts, upholstery leather, leather accessories, and technical leather products. SCCP may be relevant in leather and textile supply chains, among others, in connection with plastics, rubber, adhesives, paints, coatings, or leather processing auxiliaries.
We also analyse materials for medium-chain chlorinated paraffins (see DIN EN ISO 18219-2).
