Our test laboratory performs testing according to DIN EN ISO 4628-2 under an accredited procedure for the assessment of the degree of blistering (bubbles) of coatings. The standard describes the classification of blister formation using pictorial reference standards and is based on the general rating system defined in DIN EN ISO 4628-1.
Test procedure
For the test, coated surfaces are visually examined under standardized viewing conditions and compared with the reference photographs specified in the standard. The frequency and size of blisters are classified according to the rating system. Assessments are commonly performed after exposure to moisture, climatic stress, corrosion testing or artificial ageing.
Applications
The test is used for paints, coated plastics, coated films, functional coatings and polymer surfaces. It is particularly relevant for the evaluation of adhesion-related failures, moisture-induced degradation, underfilm corrosion or delamination, osmotic blistering effects, and coating damage resulting from environmental exposure or accelerated ageing tests.
