Our test laboratory performs testing in accordance with DIN EN ISO 4684 using an accredited procedure. This standard specifies a standardized test method for determining the content of volatile substances in leather. The aim of the test is the quantitative determination of moisture and other volatile components, which have a significant influence on the material condition and the comparability of test results.
During testing according to DIN EN ISO 4684, a defined leather sample is first weighed under specified conditions and then dried in an oven at elevated temperature
until constant mass is achieved. After the drying process, the sample is weighed again. The content of volatile substances is calculated as a percentage from the difference in mass before and after drying.
