Our test laboratory performs tests in accordance with GSO 98 to determine the burning behavior of materials used in vehicle interiors. The Technical Regulation of the Gulf Standardization Organization (GSO) specifies requirements for the flammability of interior materials and the associated test method. The specimen is positioned horizontally and, after defined flame exposure, the flame spread and horizontal burning rate are evaluated.
The test is relevant for a wide range of non-metallic materials and components used in vehicle interiors, including seat covers and upholstery materials, textiles, leather and artificial leather, plastics, foams, floor coverings, headliners, as well as door and side trim materials.
The test principle of GSO 98 is comparable to various internationally and nationally established test methods for the horizontal burning behavior of automotive interior materials. FILK also performs similar tests in accordance with FMVSS 302, ISO 3795, DIN 75200, GB 8410 and SAE J369. This enables materials to be tested and evaluated according to different requirements relevant to international automotive markets.
