Our testing lab performs testing according to VW PV 3341 (Non-metallic materials for vehicle interior – Determination of the emission of organic compounds) promptly, competently, and in accordance with accredited procedures. This Volkswagen AG specification is used to determine the emission of organic compounds (TVOC) by means of static headspace analysis (GC-FID).
The test evaluates the amount of organic carbon released by a material under defined conditions, serving as a measure of the total volatile organic compounds emitted. Optionally, an additional evaluation using a mass spectrometric detector (MS) can be performed, enabling the identification of critical or listed substances.
The procedure includes sample preparation in a headspace vial, thermal conditioning, gas chromatographic analysis, and evaluation using calibration curves for total carbon emissions.
Typical applications include plastics, coatings, textiles, leather, and other non-metallic materials used in the vehicle interior environment. The specification is also part of VW 50180.
Please feel free to contact our test laboratory for further information or to request a quotation for testing according to VW PV 3341.
