Our testing laboratory performs the Volvo test according to STD 429 0002 (Determination of formaldehyde emissions from automotive interior components) professionally and in an accredited testing environment. The test is used for the quantitative determination of formaldehyde emissions from organic materials such as plastics, foams, textiles, leather, or composite materials used in vehicle interiors.
Formaldehyde emissions are measured using the so-called bottle method and analyzed by HPLC. Defined material samples are stored in a closed container under controlled conditions, and the amount of formaldehyde released into the air is recorded. This allows a reliable assessment of whether materials comply with the permitted emission limits.
In the test report issued by our laboratory, the formaldehyde emission according to STD 429 0002 is reported in mg/kg, similar to the procedure in VDA 275.
