TESLA TP-0000906 Stain Resistance

Testing according to TP-0000906: Stain Resistance of Interior Surfaces

Our test laboratory performs testing according to Tesla TP-0000906 for the determination of stain resistance and cleanability of automotive interior surface materials.

The Tesla test specification TP-0000906, Stain Resistance of Interior Surfaces describes a standardized test method for evaluating the resistance of interior materials to liquid and solid contaminants as well as their cleanability using defined cleaning agents. The test is particularly applicable to textiles, synthetic leather, leather, plastics and other interior materials and is used to assess their visual appearance and in-service performance under realistic conditions of use.

Test Procedure

For testing, standardized test specimens are conditioned under defined climatic conditions. Various representative contaminants, such as dye solutions, mustard, petroleum jelly, potting soil and ballpoint pen ink, are then applied under specified conditions. The specimens are evaluated both after a short exposure period and after accelerated ageing at elevated temperature. Following cleaning with defined cleaning agents, the remaining staining and any surface changes are assessed using a four-level rating scale ranging from "Poor" to "Good."

Relationship to Other Tesla Specifications

Tesla TP-0000906 complements other durability tests performed by the FILK testing laboratory, particularly Tesla TP-0000703, which evaluates the resistance of materials to chemical agents. While TP-0000703 focuses on the effects of defined service fluids and environmental chemicals on material surfaces, TP-0000906 assesses the resistance of interior materials to typical everyday stains and their ease of cleaning. Together, these test methods provide a comprehensive evaluation of the durability, appearance and in-service performance of automotive interior surface materials.
