Our test laboratory performs testing in accordance with the Volkswagen standard VW TL 52675 using an accredited procedure. This technical delivery specification defines the material requirements for foam-backed leatherette and coated textiles used in vehicle interior components. The purpose of the standard is to establish the qualitative, functional, and technical properties of these materials to ensure their suitability for stable and durable use in automotive interiors.
The specification covers coated sheet materials that must meet high performance demands due to their elasticity, surface structure, resistance to mechanical stress, cleaning agents, and climatic influences. Typical applications include seat covers, trim elements, armrests, headrests, and other touch- and view-sensitive components, where material quality and usability are critical evaluation criteria.
During the VW TL 52675 assessment, specimens are evaluated visually and instrumentally according to the specification. Relevant properties tested include surface durability, mechanical resistance, adhesion of the coating, resistance to cleaning and maintenance agents, and performance under climatically varying conditions. These evaluations ensure that the leatherette materials maintain functionality, longevity, and visual quality even under realistic service conditions.
