They also play a key role in architectural and interior design, for example in flexible wall and ceiling systems, acoustically effective surfaces, or modular space dividers. In addition, they are widely used in exhibition and retail construction, as well as in the interior design of hotels, restaurants, and public buildings, and in office and conference environments. Another important field of application is leisure and sports infrastructure, including stadium seating, outdoor furniture, tarpaulins, sun protection systems, and large-scale roofing structures. Flexible materials are also used in healthcare environments, for example in hygienic surfaces and furnishing elements in care facilities and hospitals.
To ensure that these materials reliably withstand the demands of daily use, testing is an essential part of product development and quality assurance. Depending on the intended application, material properties must be specifically examined and evaluated in order to ensure safety, durability, and fitness for use.
