Since his election in July 2022, he has been touring his district, which extends almost as far as Leipzig in the north, borders the Czech Republic in the south and reaches the Chemnitz conurbation in the west. Dirk Neubauer seeks above all to be close to the citizens. To this end, he offers various dialogue formats, but also visits companies time and again, including our Institute. During a tour of our laboratories and technical facilities with our managing directors Prof. Dr. Michael Meyer and Prof. Dr. Haiko Schulz, he and Volker Dietzmann, his personal secretary, were amazed at the range of topics our scientists cover.
The visit also gave our guests the opportunity to make their work, plans and goals transparent. In addition to a functioning public administration, Dirk Neubauer is very concerned about the attractiveness of our district as a liveable space. In cooperation with cities and municipalities and other institutions such as the Chemnitz Chamber of Industry and Commerce or business associations, various initiatives are being coordinated: Digitisation of administration, securing skilled workers, expansion of public infrastructure, support for business start-ups, returnee initiative for emigrated skilled workers, sports promotion, to name but a few.
