Our accredited laboratory performs testing in accordance with DIN EN ISO 10195 (Leather – Chemical determination of chromium(VI) content in leather – Thermal pre-ageing of leather and determination of hexavalent chromium) professionally and under defined test conditions.
The standard specifies a procedure for the quantitative determination of hexavalent chromium in leather-based materials, whereby a thermal pre-ageing step is carried out prior to the actual measurement in order to assess the tendency of leather to form chromium VI under thermal ageing conditions.
In our testing laboratory, the content of hexavalent chromium is determined by ion chromatography.
The test results obtained in accordance with DIN EN ISO 10195 provide information on the chromium(VI) content of the leather material after thermal pre-ageing and allow an evaluation with regard to safety and quality requirements. The determined chromium (VI) content is particularly relevant for assessing the processability and safe use of leather goods in applications with increased demands on chemical safety and skin contact.
