VDA (Automotive-Interior)

Our test laboratory performs a wide range of tests according to standards issued by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). These test methods are used to evaluate materials, components, and surfaces with regard to the specific requirements of automotive applications, with a primary focus on vehicle interior systems.

The testing methods cover a broad spectrum of material properties, including:

  • mechanical and structural properties (deformation behavior, compression and load resistance)

  • leather surface and grain quality (e.g., loose grain effect)

  • optical durability and aging behavior (color changes, surface appearance under the influence of temperature and media)

  • material interactions and compatibility within the vehicle interior (amine resistance, NOx resistance)

  • emission and odor characteristics (VOC, FOG, interior emissions)

  • thermal and climatic resistance (behavior under elevated temperatures, aging effects, climatic stress in closed systems)

The results obtained in our testing lab provide an essential basis for:

  • material approvals by vehicle manufacturers

  • supplier qualification and production monitoring

  • product development and optimization
