The SIG Science Talk is a new digital event series where you can learn news from the research of the 19 SIG member institutes. The series will start for the first time on January 21, 2021 at 10:30 am. Scientists from the Plastics Center in Leipzig (KUZ), the Paper Technology Foundation in Heidenau (PTS) and the Saxon Textile Research Institute in Chemnitz (STFI) will report and discuss on the topic of "Innovative Recycling". We invite you to find out about current research activities in Saxony and to enter into dialogue with our speakers.
Germans are producing more and more packaging waste. According to the Federal Environment Agency, 18.7 million tons are produced each year. Just under 70 percent is recycled. There are already good rates for paper and cardboard recycling and for glass. Recycling rates for plastics are somewhat lower. However, there is still plenty of room for improvement in all areas.
How the members of the Sächsische Industrieforschungsgemeinschaft e. V. (SIG) are contributing with their innovations to even more recycling in the future, you can find out at the first SIG Science Talk.

About the Sächsische Industrieforschungsgemeinschaft e. V. (SIG):
The Saxon Industrial Research Association e.V. (SIG) speaks with one voice for Saxony's non-profit external industrial research institutions. SIG was founded in Dresden in 2014 to pool their strengths in Saxony. It currently has 19 members. With its wide-ranging research spectrum, the research association strengthens transfer-oriented, market-preparing research in Saxony in the interest of Saxony's small and medium-sized enterprises. The focus in terms of content is on the one hand on Saxony's industries of the future, such as materials, technology and process development, and on the other hand always on the pulse of central issues of important social challenges such as resource efficiency or environmental compatibility.
