From in-house method to DIN standard – FILK drives forward standardization of melamine analysis

Together with Partners from industry and science, FILK has developed an innovative method for the qualitative and quantitative determination of the SVHC pollutant melamine in coated textiles, leather, and synthetic leather.

Background

Melamine is listed as a substance of very high concern (SVHC) on the REACH candidate list and is therefore regulatory-relevant for many applications. Especially in coated materials, detection can be analytically challenging due to the complex matrix structure.

FILK in-house method with standardization perspective

The new in-house method developed at FILK enables reliable detection and quantification of melamine even in difficult material systems. It is characterized by high sensitivity, repeatability, and matrix independence, thus providing reliable results for research, development, and quality assurance. Work is already underway to convert the method into a DIN standard—a further step toward standardization and broad applicability of this innovative analytical method.

Greater security through precise analytics

With this new development, FILK offers manufacturers and suppliers a practical testing option to ensure regulatory compliance and product safety of materials – especially for coatings and composite systems.
