Stitch tear tests

Our laboratory performs stitch tear resistance tests professionally and in accordance with international standards, including accredited test procedures (e.g. DIN, DIN EN, DIN EN ISO, ASTM, GMW).

These physical test methods are used to determine the resistance of materials to tear-out at a stitch point, meaning the force required to pull out a hole introduced by a seam, needle, or fastening element under tensile load. In the stitch tear test, a specimen with a defined perforation or seam preparation is clamped in a testing machine, and the force required to tear the material at the stitch point is measured.

The characteristic values obtained provide important information on seam strength, material quality, and suitability for applications subject to mechanical stress.

The tests and standards applied in our testing lab are listed below.
