Various fats, oils and waxes are used during leather production. These are used, among other things, to set certain properties (impregnation, softness, etc.). The free fatty acids contained in leather can, however, cause skin irritation in certain types of leather. The free fatty acid content of these leathers must be determined in order to monitor and check compliance with the established limit values.
