Physical test methods / Strength properties and deformation behavior Adhesion and separation tests

Adhesion and peel tests are used for the quantitative evaluation of composite systems, coatings and laminated material constructions. Within the scope of the tests carried out in our laboratory, the force required to separate coatings, finishes or bonded layers is determined, and the mode of failure is also assessed. The results provide important information for material development, process optimization and quality control of products and components.

The accredited testing laboratory of FILK offers a broad range of standardized test methods for this purpose. These include, in particular, accredited tests according to DIN EN ISO 2411 for the determination of coating adhesion on rubber- or plastics-coated fabrics, DIN EN ISO 11644 for the assessment of the adhesion of leather finishes, and DIN 53357-A for peel testing of plastic films and sheets. In addition, numerous industry- and customer-specific test methods are performed, including OEM specifications of the automotive industry and Volkswagen test specifications such as PV 2034. These tests enable a reliable assessment of bond quality and the durability of multilayer systems under application-relevant conditions.

For pressure-sensitive adhesive systems and label materials, FILK also offers specialized FINAT adhesion tests, such as the 180° peel adhesion test (FTM 1) and the determination of initial tack ("Loop Tack", FTM 9). Further information on FINAT test methods can be found on the page dedicated to this standards organization.

The individual test methods offered are listed below and can be requested separately. You can also access the overview of our physical testing services here.
