Compression tests are used to determine the behaviour of materials under compressive loading. The resulting parameters provide important information on compressive strength, compressibility, compression behaviour and deformation characteristics of materials.
The accredited testing laboratory of FILK offers a broad range of standardized compression tests for various material groups. These include, in particular, accredited testing according to DIN EN ISO 3386-1 and DIN EN ISO 3386-2 for the determination of compression stress values of flexible and cellular polymeric materials, as well as DIN EN ISO 604 for the determination of the compressive properties of plastics. In addition, compression properties of foams, composite materials, leather, textiles and other sheet materials are evaluated in accordance with international standards and OEM specifications.
These tests are of particular relevance for applications in automotive interiors, upholstery and seating systems, as well as for technical composite materials. Depending on the material and specific requirements, different test principles are applied in the FILK laboratory, including static compression tests, compression hardness tests and compressive deformation tests. The tests enable a reliable assessment of material behaviour under application-relevant compressive loads.
