Our test lab performs abrasion testing using the friction wheel method (Taber Test) professionally and in an accredited testing environment.
These test methods are used to determine the abrasion resistance of surfaces such as plastics, coatings, laminates, textiles, or leather by exposing standardized specimens to a defined friction wheel. During the test, the samples rotate under the weighted friction wheels, generating controlled wear. Parameters such as friction wheel type (e.g., CS 10, H 18), test speed, test duration, applied load, and number of revolutions are precisely defined to ensure reproducible results.
The mass loss of the specimens or the change in surface condition is recorded, allowing reliable statements on the material’s resistance to mechanical stress.
