FILK Standards

The test methods listed under the publisher FILK are proprietary procedures developed by FILK Freiberg Institute or established for specific applications in research, development, material characterization and quality assurance. They complement national and international standards where no suitable standardized methods are available or where more advanced material- and application-specific investigations are required.

The FILK methods cover testing and analytical procedures for leather, collagen-based materials, plastics, coated textiles and other polymer-based materials. Key areas include the chemical and physico-chemical characterization of materials, the identification and quantification of constituents, and the detection of specific substances and material components. In addition, methods are available for determining characteristic parameters in leather and polymer analysis, investigating ageing and damage phenomena, and evaluating material- and application-specific properties. These test methods are used primarily for material development, failure analysis, quality assurance, and support of product qualification and approval testing. A number of these procedures are performed within the scope of the laboratory’s accreditation.

The proprietary test methods and specifications available at FILK are listed below.
