Tear tests

Our laboratory performs tear propagation tests professionally and in accordance with international standards, including accredited test procedures (e.g. DIN, DIN EN, DIN EN ISO, ASTM, GMW, PSA, etc.).

These physical test methods are used to determine the tear propagation strength of materials, i.e. their resistance to the further tearing of an existing notch or crack under tensile load. In a tear propagation test, a standardized pre-cut notch or initial tear is introduced into the specimen, and the force required to continue the tear is measured.
