On 22 September 2022, the Scientific Director and Managing Director of FILK Freiberg Institute, PD Dr Michael Meyer, was appointed Honorary Professor at the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg (TU BAF) with the presentation of the certificate of appointment. At the Faculty 4 Mechanical, Process and Energy Engineering of the TU BAF, Michael Meyer will support his colleagues in the field of "Biobased Materials for Additive Manufacturing". As a biologist and process engineer, he has established himself as an expert in biobased materials during his professional career. In particular, research into the raw material collagen, the structural protein of animal skin, and the processing procedures played and still plays an important role and was the subject of his doctorate and later his habilitation.
The Dean of Faculty 4, Professor Tobias M. Fieback, and Professor Henning Zeidler, Professor for Additive Manufacturing at the Faculty, came to FILK Freiberg to present the certificate. Both sides are looking forward to the close scientific cooperation and the complementary competences in teaching and research.
